Can I be honest with you for a second?
I don’t do Valentine’s Day.
I’ll share the main reason with you, at the end of this post, but aside from that, I’ve always found it super tacky...stuffed bears and red roses? Nup! No thanks, next.
But, I know that SO many people do celebrate love on Valentine’s Day, and I’m not going to stop them, but I’m going to propose (no pun intended) a slightly different way of doing things.
Let’s un-tacky Valentine’s Day (I even made a hashtag #untackyvalentinesday)!
Instead of being boring and predictable buying all the tacky red things this year, why not do some good instead and shop local, buy small-batch and handmade, give them something they actually want, or choose things from social enterprises and those that give back.
Against all of my will, I’ve even created a collection full of untacky gift ideas.
What do you think? Want to join me in un-tackying (it’s a verb) Valentine’s Day?
Well done in making it this far! Do you want to know the real reason I don’t do Valentine’s Day? It’s my birthday and I’m probably just grumpy that I can never find a table to eat out at!
